Crafting Memorable Hospitality with Heart and Vision

Hospitality is about creating spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, and remembered. For Ismary Theisen, that philosophy guides everything she does as the General Manager of Hotel Alexander and Arch + Cable. With a deep passion for service, creativity, and community connection, Ismary leads the day-to-day operations of the hotels while helping shape the experience guests encounter from the moment they walk through the doors. Her leadership blends operational expertise with an eye for detail and storytelling, ensuring that every guest stay reflects the character and spirit of the boutique properties she oversees. As General Manager, Ismary oversees the many moving parts that bring the hotels to life each day. From managing operations and supporting her team to developing creative guest experiences, her role touches every aspect of the guest journey. She believes hospitality is not simply about providing a place to stay it is about creating memorable moments and building connections with guests who visit Mankato from near and far. Under her leadership, Hotel Alexander and Arch + Cable continue to grow as welcoming destinations that combine thoughtful service with distinctive design and personality.

Hospitality Ventures General Manager

Ismary’s commitment to hospitality extends beyond the walls of the hotels. Recently, she was selected to serve on the Visit Mankato Board, an organization dedicated to promoting tourism and showcasing the unique experiences the region has to offer. She also serves on the board of Greater Mankato Rotary, part of the global Rotary network focused on service, leadership, and strengthening communities. These roles reflect her belief that hospitality and community development go hand in hand. When a city thrives through events, tourism, and local partnerships, everyone benefits. Beyond her professional work, Ismary is also a wife and mother of six children, balancing the demands of leadership with the joys and responsibilities of family life. That experience has shaped her approach to hospitality. She understands that travel is often about connecting families, gathering friends, celebrating, and visitors creating memories together. It’s a perspective that influences the way she leads her team and welcomes guests. Her ability to balance family, leadership, and community involvement reflects the resilience and dedication that define so many women in hospitality.

During International Women’s Month, Ismary’s story highlights how leadership in hospitality often happens behind the scenes, in the daily dedication to teams, guests, and community partnerships. Her work ensures that every detail of the guest experience reflects the same spirit that inspired these hotels from the beginning: warmth, authenticity, and connection. And through that work, she continues helping write the next chapter in the story of Hotel Alexander and Arch + Cable. Working alongside hotel owners Michelle Schooff and Dr. Julene Nolan, Ismary plays a key role in carrying forward the vision of women-led hospitality that defines Hotel Alexander and Arch + Cable. Together, their leadership represents a powerful example of women shaping business, community, and guest experience in meaningful ways.
